Jaipur Development Authority finally caught the attention of the swelling complaints againt the developers of housing cooperative socities,
JDA has decided to initiate an audit of the housing cooperative societies across the state. “It was decided in the meeting that an audit would be initiated to check the records and number of plots in every housing society to avoid duping.” A deputy registrar at JDA said.
Recently, the state government had also constituted a three-member committee to monitor the functioning of the housing committee. However, no action against any society has been taken so far.
“The expert committee examined provisions of various Acts to recommend suitable safeguards. It comprised of joint registrar (rules), joint registrar (housing) and deputy registrar. Even after the report was submitted nothing was done.”A senior official said,
Due to lack of control, housing cooperative societies and private builders have duped thousands of customers after promising to give plots in the past 15 years.
Most of the unorganized projects do not even have complete set of approvals from the authorities. “The rise in land prices has increased malpractices in real estate business. A special (JDA) police station was established to ensure quick progress in such cases, however the attempt failed,” an official said.
Sources informed the developers that now functioning as an unregulated trade will come under the umbrella of expert committee.
A official said that “This will discourage non-serious developers in the business to make easy money. Majority of private housing projects in the state, big or small have problem in terms of obtaining necessary approvals and clearances from the authorities,”
