Ajmer: the next smart city

Not just Jaipur, Rajasthan is hoping to position at least 4-5 cities as smart cities with Ajmer being on the top of the list. The government of Rajasthan has inked an memorandum og understanding (MOU) with the United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) to collaborate on Ajmer. The Central Government has also setup a task force to examine the plans for the city.

“Ajmer has already been declared as one of the smart cities. I believe two or more cities of Rajasthan will be included into it; Jaipur will be one of them. Partnering with Cisco, JDA hopes to transition Jaipur into a smart and connected city in phases.

Shikhar Agarwal, Commissioner, JDA told CNBC-TV18 that, “the vision is to have a master plan in place and the appropriate starting place is the next two to three months time. We are already inviting bids for the consultant and have already set up a task force, which cuts across various departments.
